My Hero Academia: 10 Things That Make No Sense About Bakugo

There have been, and will continue to be, many things that make absolutely no sense about My Hero Academia's Bakugo.

Katsuki Bakugo is a fan-favorite character from My Hero Academia thanks to his overpowered Quirk and explosive personality. Over the course of 5 seasons, 3 movies, and 19 manga arcs, Bakugo has purposefully made it difficult for peers and fans to keep up with him, but that hasn't stopped both from trying to understand every inch of his character.

Bakugo proves many times throughout My Hero Academia that an overpowered Quirk is not enough to make the rest of the world fall into place. Regardless of how powerful the Explosion Quirk has been shown to be, there have been, and will continue to be, many things that make absolutely no sense about everybody's favorite angry boy.

Bakugo is an angry young man. In fact, his explosive temper is as fundamental to his character as his explosive Quirk. This temper has served as Bakugo's number one character flaw since he was introduced alongside Deku.

Despite the fact that Bakugo's angry personality serves as the hinge point of his character arc, it makes little to no sense considering his background. Bakugo is a skilled young man that has always been able to overcome the obstacles in his path. He also has two loving parents that still support him as a student at U.A. High. There have been some cool fan theories that explain why Bakugo is always so angry, but it makes little to no sense when working with canonical information.

The Explosion Quirk is one of the most visually entertaining and versatile Quirks in all of My Hero Academia. It also demands that viewers suspend their disbelief quite a bit.

The nitroglycerin-like fluid that flows out of Bakugo's sweat glands allows him to create explosions at will, but it also replaces his sweat. Though sweat often carries more negative connotations than positive, it plays an important role in thermoregulation. Even if fans consider the fact that Bakugo's sweat functions as both sweat and ignition fluid, they still have to explain how his body has adjusted to withstand heavy doses of nitroglycerin coursing through his body on a regular basis.

Many readers have spent some time developing a friendship with someone who is fake nice. The kind of nice that boisterously presents itself when it isn't needed but disappears as soon as times get tough. After nearly 5 seasons, Deku has proven that his kindness is not fake.

Despite Deku's efforts, Bakugo continues to direct his anger at Isuku. This is hard to make sense of considering the fact that Deku has only ever been kind to Kacchan. Bakugo can't even make claims about Deku being fake nice because of the consistency behind Izuku's actions that he has witnessed since they were children.

As the wielder of one of the most overpowered and potentially violent Quirks in My Hero Academia, it isn't hard to explain why Bakugo looks down on his peers. His anger may be misdirected and disproportionate, but where else can you look when you stand at the top of the metaphorical mountain?

What doesn't make sense about Bakugo's judgmental attitude toward other Quirks is his inability to recognize the importance of less violent Quirks like Float and Smokescreen. It is in these Quirks where innovation and ingenuity were introduced to the world of Quirks. These are traits that Bakugo clearly acknowledges as he learns to repurpose his own Quirk on a regular basis, yet he continues to bad mouth the less violent Quirks as if they have zero value.

Fans of Denis Villeneuve's recent Dune adaptation were introduced to a piece of technology known as the Stillsuit. Though long-time fans of the Dune franchise could surely explain it better, the Stillsuit preserves the body's moisture by recycling it and repurposing it into drinking water.

Bakugo's suit does something similar, but instead of recycling all of his bodily fluids, it collects his sweat so that he can store up the ignition fuel that powers his Quirk. Though this idea makes sense in theory, it would require an extraordinarily advanced suit to accomplish it. If compared to the Stillsuit, Bakugo's suit is thousands of years ahead of its time.

Even if fans are willing to accept the fact that Bakugo's suit is able to absorb his nitroglycerin-like sweat and store it for later use, it is still difficult to understand how Bakugo is able to maintain maximum output throughout the course of a battle. If his Quirk works by igniting the stored-up sweat in his suit, there has to be a point when these stores run out.

Bakugo has made a point of explaining that his Quirk is weakest when he begins his missions and when the weather outside prevents him from building up sweat. Yet his time working with Endeavor showed him developing the skill to spring into action at maximum strength within seconds. This makes no sense when considering the way his Quirk actually works.

Unless fans consider that Bakugo has multiple Quirks, the Explosion Quirk is hard to make sense of. As it stands, Kacchan's Quirk allows him to both produce ignition fluid and ignite this fluid with his hands.

The fact that he is able to freely produce ignition fluid is often overlooked by fans who are captivated by the young Explosion Murder God's ability to ignite this fluid within the palm of his hand.

Fans of My Hero Academia often overlook the massive brain that sits inside Katsuki Bakugo's head. His short temper and stubborn personality often distract from the fact that Bakugo is a brilliant young student.

Bakugo's brain moves so quickly that many of his peers have trouble keeping up with him. In fact, Bakugo's brain moves quicker than should be humanly possible. As the young man projects himself through the air, he is forced to adjust the strength and direction of his explosions on the fly. If Bakugo makes a single mistake, his normal human body would smash against the side of a construction site like a fly hitting a windshield. Perhaps Bakugo's Quirk allows the synapses in his brain to snap at explosively quick rates as well.

Though many of Bakugo's unexplainable behaviors negatively impact his character, there is one that proves Kacchan to be an intelligent and persistent young man.

Despite the fact that Bakugo has consistently stood at the top of his class in terms of raw strength, he continues to innovate and develop his Quirk without missing a beat. It seems that no matter how far Deku or Shoto push their abilities, the Explosion Murder God continues to keep up with them by innovating on his powerful Quirk. The simple fact that Bakugo used his Quirk to learn how to fly before attending U.A. High is proof of his ability to think outside of the box without being pushed or prompted by his peers.

Bakugo demonstrated the lethality of his Quirk when he added the AP Shot to his arsenal of super moves during his training in the gamma gym.

Bakugo's Quirk grants him the power to blast through solid concrete, yet it has little to no effect on Bakugo himself. Though there have been times when Bakugo's arms went limp after letting off a powerful blast. When fans consider the amount of kinetic energy being released each time Bakugo sets off a small explosion in his hand this doesn't make any sense.
