August 5, 2019 - Larson Electronics, a Texas-based company with over 40 years of experience spearheading the industrial lighting and equipment sectors, announced the release of an explosion-proof rotary potentiometer for use in Class I, Divisions 1 and 2 hazardous locations. This 2-watt unit operates on 30V DC and provides 200k ohm resistance. This device is used to support vehicle steering systems.

The EXP-PTM.200K-1W explosion-proof rotary potentiometer is rated for use in Class I, Divisions 1 and 2, Groups C and D; Class II, Divisions 1 and 2, Groups E, F and G; and Class III, Divisions 1 and 2 hazardous locations. This unit is made of copper-free aluminum and is not factory sealed, so this unit requires external sealing fittings. This unit is a manually adjustable variable resistor and can be used as a voltage divider via three pins or rheostat via two pins.

Larson Electronics’ explosion-proof rotary potentiometer allows operators to measure the potential of an electric voltage and can serve as controls (volume, joystick, and more) for various types of equipment. This unit is wall mounted via integral mounting tabs and can be mounted to walls and flat surfaces. This potentiometer is available with either 1/2-inch or 3/4-inch NPT tapped hubs and features conduit openings at the top and bottom. Suitable applications include industrial settings, warehouses, use in wet areas, lighting and more.
