Medford Cruise: The annual Medford Cruise will once again rev up its engine. The event kicks off with a Poker Chip Fun Run open to all kinds of cars and motorcycles at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 17, at Fichtner-Mainwaring Park, 334 Holmes Ave., Medford, followed by a concert in the park from 6 to 9 p.m. featuring The Modern Gentlemen, and an after-dusk (approximately 9:30 p.m.) drive-in movie featuring the “Back to the Future,” at the park (parking begins at 6 p.m.). Historic Bank Tour: Step behind the counter of the oldest bank in the Pacific Northwest — Beekman Bank — from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, through Sept. 4, at the Beekman Bank Museum, 110 W. California St., Jacksonville. A costumed docent will tell the stories of 19th century banking practices, gold shipping and handshake deals. Begun in 1856 as a gold dust office, it’s the oldest financial institution between San Francisco and Portland. Preserved as a museum since 1915, it saw over $40 million in gold cross its counter during Jacksonville’s heyday in the late 1800s — worth over $1 billion today. Porchfest: Musicians will set up and perform on neighborhood porches in northwest Grants Pass from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 18. The event will occur in the Northwest Washington Boulevard area of town, with the participating streets closed down to vehicle traffic. More than 21 musical groups or solo acts of various genres will perform, and attendees can bring their own chairs and sit or stand on the grass, sidewalk, or driveways to listen. Victorian History Tour: Hear about Victorian medical practices during a tour from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the Beekman House, 470 E. California St., Jacksonville. The one-hour tour explores how most doctors still lacked formal medical education, hospitals were virtually non-existent, germs were unknown and narcotics, opiates, alcohol and poisons were the base of most medicines. Costumed docents will discuss the local health care available in the late 1800s, sharing stories of Beekman health issues and “cures,” and pointing out sanitation measures the family adopted. Gardening Presentation: Jason Riessland, Master Gardener and certified instructor in Korean natural farming, will give a presentation on Korean gardening from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the Talent library, 101 Home St. Riessland will introduce the system of farming and gardening developed by Master Han-Kyu Cho of South Korea. The system utilizes the revitalization and reintroduction of indigenous microorganisms into the soil, as well as inexpensive, made-on-site liquid fertilizers that can be applied in two ways. Additionally, Riessland will discuss the agricultural crossroads we find ourselves in at present. Participants will learn to identify the rights, principles and heart of Natural Farming; develop a basic understanding of the nine core solutions used in Korean Natural Farming; and receive and introduction to the IMO1 process. Medford Juneteenth Celebration: Celebrate community and freedom during the second annual family-friendly Southern Oregon Juneteenth Celebration from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 19, at Pear Blossom Park, 312 E.
